Cited by some as the hipster capital of the Midwest, we are happy to tell you that Logan Square is so much more than that. An eclectic population makes Logan Square one of Chicago’s most vibrant neighborhoods, home to starving artists, small business owners and growing families alike.
Located on the northwest side of the city, Logan Square is bounded by the Metra/Milwaukee District Railroad to the west, the Chicago River to the east, Avondale Avenue to the north and Bloomingdale Avenue to the south. The eponymous square of Logan Square sits at the intersection of Kedzie Blvd., Logan Blvd., and Milwaukee Avenue. At its center stands the Illinois Centennial Monument, built in 1918 to commemorate 100 years of Illinois statehood.
What was once a largely Russian neighborhood is now home to a variety of cultures and ethnicities: Mexican, Polish, Eastern European, and Norwegian Americans to name a few. At its core a working class neighborhood, Logan Square has attracted artists, students and small business owners over the past couple decades for its affordable housing and now quite lively nightlife and arts scene. Perhaps the key word to describing Logan Square is “local”- local food, local craft beers, local artists, musicians, and businesses are the mainstays of Logan cultural life.

Real Estate Options
The aesthetic beauty of the neighborhood is another big draw- beautiful tree-lined meridians grace Logan and Kedzie Boulevard, and the real estate is fantastic. Victorian graystones, limestone mansions and brick Tudor and Prairie buildings make up much of the historic architecture. Single-family historical mansions sit on spacious lots sized about 4,500 square feet or more. While their original architectural details have been mostly preserved, these homes have also been updated with modern amenities and features.
Newly built single-family homes, condos and townhomes are also available in the area, and come in a wide array of sizes, prices, and features. As one of Chicago’s rising neighborhoods, Logan Square offers affordable real estate for up and coming professionals looking to start businesses or young families in search of their first homes.
