Bucktown with IDX and H1/H2 tags

During the 19th century, Bucktown was at the heart of an enormous Polish settlement, known as Polish Downtown, that served as the Polish social and cultural capital of North America. Bucktown itself earned its name from the goats raised there by Polish immigrants, the original name being Kozie Prery, or Goat Prairie. Polish immigrants continued to settle in Bucktown well into the 20th century including the decade following the Second World War. They were joined by other prominent groups of immigrants, including European Jews and Belarusians, followed by Cuban Americans and Puerto Rican Americans in the early 1960s.

By the 80s and 90s, artists looking for cheap rent settled in Wicker Park and Bucktown, and though the neighborhood has gentrified significantly, its art legacy is lasting. Like nearby Wicker Park and Logan Square, Bucktown is home to tons of Chicago artists whose work is on display in local galleries and shops. Besides Bucktown’s distinct artistic vibe, its accessibility and proximity to the Loop have also made it a highly desirable area to live.
